Spicy Chicken Wraps

Introduction:

The wrap in its Western form probably comes from California, as a generalization of the Tex-Mex burrito, and became popular in the 1990's, it is loved by chicken lovers all around the world.

This is the easiest and a classic recipe one can follow if craving for some some juicy, crispy and filling chicken wrap.

Ingredients:

4 tortilla shells

2 onion (chopped in thin slices)

1 tomato (chopped in thin slices)

3 chicken breasts (cut into cubes)

100g lettuce/iceberg (shredded)

Mayonnaise sauce

Chipotle sauce

2 cups mozzarella cheese (grated)

Salt (according to taste)

Pepper (according to taste)

1 tsp red chili powder

1½ tsp paprika powder

1 tsp Tabasco sauce

2 tbsp peri peri sauce

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tbsp red chili sauce

1½ tsp chili flakes

½ tsp white vinegar

1 cup flour

Oil for deep frying

Method:

• Chicken-

1. Before starting the marination of the chicken, fork all the cubes lightly so that it gets marinated properly.

2. Add the chicken to a large bowl and add- red chili powder, paprika powder, tabasco sauce, peri peri sauce, garlic powder, red chili sauce, chili flakes, a pinch of salt and lastly add in the white vinegar.

3. Mix in all the ingredients with a spatula (Do not use your hands as they will start burning from the heat of the chili).

4. Keep it aside for 1.5 - 2 hours.

5. Once the chicken is marinated, in a separate bowl add the flour and coat the chicken in the flour one at a time.

6. Heat the oil, and add the chicken to the oil and fry it till golden (make sure to not overcrowd the pan)

• Filling-

1. Microwave the tortilla shell for 30 seconds so that it is soft and easier to work with.

2. Now, spread a dallop of mayonnaise on the entire tortilla shell.

3. Add the chicken in the middle of the tortilla in two lines very close to each other, add-on the shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes and crushed onions, lastly sprinkle some salt and pepper.

4. Drizzle the chipotle sauce and top it off with the grated cheese.

• Wrap-

1. Fold in sides, almost enough so they touch, but with an inch or so between them, so some of the filling still peeks out.

2. Now taking one of the open sides, fold it over the filling peaking out and tuck it under the already two folded sides.

3. Lastly, carefully roll the entire tortilla in the direction of the forth open side.

4. Heat up a flat surfaced pan, add a little bit of oil and spread it all over the pan.

5. Add the wrapped tortilla to the hot oiled pan and turn once the surface of the tortilla is golden and crispy.

6. Repeat this process on the other side and the sides.

Serve hot and Enjoy!
